XXXL Papaya

hello...

recently I have found a very interesting fruit... its just a common fruit but the size is a shocker..and the price is as cheap as cotton... (hmmm wonder if cotton is cheap nowadays)

I am talking about papaya... I recently discover that I love papaya...
well before I start to ramble let's recap the history of Papaya

scientific name for it if im not mistaken would be

Carica papaya L.

or other than that here are the common name for it - Papaya, Papaw or Paw Paw (Australia), Mamao (Brazil), Tree Melon.

The papaya is believed to be native to southern Mexico and neighboring Central America. But nowadays its in the tropical and as well subtropical countries like ours indeed Malaysia and many other asian countries...

Used to hate this fruit due to it taste but now IM LOVING IT!

Do you know some science fact says that papaya is actually an overgrown herb? Bet you didn't..
Now those who suffers from indigestion or constipation always advised to eat alot of this fruit cause it has a natural source of PAPAIN which is a natural digestive aid... this element breaks down protein and helps to clear and clean the GIT (gastrointestinal tract). It is rich with Vitamin C, folate and potassium, high source of fiber, vitamin A, vitamin E, zeacanthin, lycopene (which is about 2 thousand ug/100g in its one delicious slice.

Papayas vary in size, ranging from about 1 to 20 pounds and 7 to 20 inches long, depending on the variety. Eat about 2 cups of papaya daily.

A ripe papaya has a golden-yellow outer skin. On the inside, its flesh is smooth and silky with a deep yellow-orange or pinkish-orange color and a sweet-musky flavor. Its large center cavity is packed with small, round, black seeds, which are edible. Their peppery flavor tastes great in a salad or salsa or blended into sauces or salad dressings.'

there ya go some facts about the fruits and nutrition!

  1. Kay ; I too am a Papaya lover . I love , not only the fruit , but , the ease of growing it. From seed to fruit in one year here in Miami , Florida. I often squzzes a little lime juice on a nice big slice , and dig-in . The fruit appears higher and higher on the trunk , as the tree matures. It's easy to identify the flowers of the male , female , and self-pollinating bysexual trees. The male will not produce any fruit . Big Palms
