We are in our second last week of posting in the mockward at the college... I tell you as far as my observations... KIDS are still KIDS no matter where you put them... their mind would not try to absorb anything difficult or new... many of the students basically go there to waste their time rather than doing the clinical procedures properly... but I am not saying ALL... there are some who would willing to go to extra length to actually make it right.
Today as we are doing the care for the wound procedure one of the course mate "Lala" came to me and ask me to look at the way she did her procedure.. gosh at first it was sooooooooo horrendous looking at it .. she forgets what you tell her in less than 15 seconds.. can you believe that...
I came up with an idea if she made one wrong move, she would circle the front area of the mock ward and come back to attend the procedure and start all over again each and every time she did it... and guess what?!!??!!? there's a huge improvement.. she had to circle the place for about 20 odds time to actually finish the procedure. I am glad that I am helping.. i just hope she gets what I am doing... it's not to try and torture her or anything like that but its to teach her and so that she remembers especially during OSCE which is around the corner.
Anyway, I too made few mistakes today and need to improve on my skills... hoping that tomorrow would be a better day.
Remembering the time when i was doing my intern.. gosh how my "tulang kering" as what they called it turn purplish/bluish been kicked by our residents if anything we did is wrong... We are dealing with life and there should be no window of error anywhere to be done!
